Warrior Meditating on a Battlefield / An Unguided Meditation - Zentralwäscherei - Zürich

The staged installation Warrior Meditating on a Battlefield / An Unguided Meditation by Vincent Glanzmann artistically revolves around the question of how we stay present people respond to sensory density and ever-shifting circumstances?

Inside a club space shaped by light, sculptures, and cushions, a massive sound system opens a 42-minute field of reflection. Cryptic rhythms flow into one another, only to fracture and begin again — organic, insistent, and alive. The space becomes both refuge and confrontation.

Visitors are invited to explore their individual responses to sensory overload through the unguided meditation — ranging from mental and physical resistance to a more permeable state of perception, in which a connection with the sonic environment can emerge — whether in seated meditation or through physical interaction with the rhythms.

The work addresses the tension between resistance and surrender, as well as between stillness and chaos, fostering an embodied experience of trust and letting go beyond intellectual control.

Please note: Loud music will be played for an extended period. Hearing protection will be available at the entrance.
