ANTIFA CAFE: Revolution in Serbia?!
On November 3, 2024, a roof collapsed in Novi Sad. 16 people died. This was followed by the biggest protest movement in Serbia since 1968. Corrupt structures in Serbian society were soon identified as the cause of the tragedy.
Universities have already been striking for months, and the movement is strongly supported by wide parts of Serbian society. The mass demonstrations are led by students, are not tied to any political parties and operate without clear leading figures.
What are the driving forces of the movement? What in the recent history led to these protests? What is their political agenda? How does Aleksandar Vučić's regime respond? What role does the serbian Left - in and out of the parliament - play?
Is it a revolution?
In a discussion we want to summarize and contextualize the protests so far. Furthermore, we want to examine emancipatory potentials of the movement.
Therefor we invited:
A comrade from Antipolitika, the anarchist journal from the Balkans and
Siniša Cvetić: film director, student, activist and anarchist from Beograd. Took part in blockades of universities in 2014 and 2024/2025.
After the discussion there will be a soli party with concerts for those affected by repression in Graz
